A Love Story in a Place That’s Already Changing | LGBTQ Engagement Photography in Frederick, MD
There are some locations you photograph because they're beautiful.
And then there are places that become part of your story.
For years, this field has been one of my favorite places to photograph couples and families in the Frederick, Maryland area. Tall grasses, open sky, beautiful evening light and just enough wildness to make every session feel a little different.
Recently, I photographed this beautiful LGBTQ+ engagement session here—and looking back at these images feels even more meaningful now.
Because today, this field is under construction.
Photographing a Moment Before Everything Changes
That's one of the things I love most about photography.
We think we're documenting people, but sometimes we're preserving places, too.
A landscape changes. Kids grow. Relationships move into new chapters. The places that once felt familiar become something completely different.
But for one evening, this field looked exactly like this.
And these two were here, in the middle of it, celebrating the beginning of their next chapter together.
That's worth remembering.
An LGBTQ+ Engagement Session That Felt Like Them
Engagement photography doesn't have to feel overly posed or like you're recreating something you've seen a hundred times on Pinterest.
I want your session to feel like you.
The way you naturally interact. The way you make each other laugh. The quiet moments between the bigger ones. The movement, connection and little pieces of personality that make your relationship yours.
For this engagement session, the open field gave us room to move, play with the evening light and create photographs that felt romantic without becoming overly formal.
Those are always some of my favorite images—the ones that feel beautiful enough to hang on a wall but still feel completely believable.
