What to Wear for Your Newborn Photo Session (and Why It Matters)
What to Wear for Your Newborn Photo Session (and Why It Matters)
By SarahRachael Photography
When you’ve just welcomed a new baby, you’re probably not thinking about your outfit. But here’s the truth: how you feel in your clothing during your newborn photo session can change everything about the way you show up on camera.
At SarahRachael Photography, my mission goes beyond capturing beautiful images—it's about empowering womenthrough every season of life. Whether you’re a brand-new mama running on coffee and love, or a business owner juggling it all, your story deserves to be told beautifully, authentically, and confidently.
Comfort Meets Confidence
The goal for newborn photography is timeless, organic beauty—and your outfit plays a big part in that. I always recommend:
Soft neutrals: Think creams, dusty pinks, muted greens, or warm taupes.
Simple textures: Flowy fabrics, knit sweaters, or linen pieces add depth without distracting.
Minimal patterns: Subtle stripes or textures are great—just skip logos and bold graphics.
When you feel comfortable and beautiful in your clothing, you radiate confidence. That confidence translates into the photos—and that’s what your children will remember: a mother who loved fiercely, led gracefully, and showed up with strength.
I always have gowns for Mama’s to borrow as well to take the pressure off of finding that perfect look from your own closet.
Let’s create something meaningful together.
